Book Review: Lola and the Boy Next Door

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

"I have three simple wishes. They're really not too much to ask.
The first is to attend the winter formal dressed like Marie Antoinette."
(In my opinion one of the best openings to a book)

After reading Anna and the French Kiss I could not wait to get my hands on a copy of Lola and the Boy Next Door. It turned out to be everything and more! I really enjoyed it!

Stephanie Perkins wowed me with her writing style and characters. Like Anna, I could relate to the characters in at least one way. When you think of chick-lit you might think of flat, typical stereotyped girls, but when you pick up one of Perkins' works you get a real story. Everything about this book felt real and was still creative. Lola has a very crazy fashion sense, and Cricket has his signature pinstripe pants AND I really want to see Lola's formal dress in real life! To make this book even more awesome Anna and Etienne St. Clair play a role in the book! They made me just smile and gush. Also, I love how there are still different, realistic problems that come up throughout the book. It made many characters grow in their development.

I would recommend this book to anyone that likes a cute, light read. And people that like book that make you smile! :) (I know I did... a lot)
